Our ambition as a school is that every young person has the opportunity to experience and exposure to the world of work and along the way, meet people who can inspire and motivate them.
As part of the process we want our young people to participate in activities which help build the skills required to be prepared for and successful in the world outside of formal education
Programmes of study
We offer a range of activities for our Y5-Y8 in partnership with the Northumberland Business Partnerships and in addition our KS3 pupils have the opportunity to research and access information into a variety of careers and vocational opportunities during their ICT lessons.
See Table 1
The school website has a link to the job explorer programme for parents to access. In addition where there is an identified need we have run a variety of courses in association with our Parental Support Partner.
We are also officially recognised as a work experience partner and continue to accept student placements from local universities.
As a school we employ people and engage contractors where possible from the local community. Some of the people we employ are current or ex parents of students who have attended Meadowdale.
Assessment and Monitoring
We are currently in the process of auditing our practice using the benchmarking tool formulated by the Gatesby foundation. In addition we have signed up to the Careers and Enterprise Advisory Network which will guide us through the process. As to the viability of the activities we undertake we gain feedback from pupils, staff and providers by surveys, questionnaires, verbal feedback
Annually the governing body will receive a report on careers and Enterprise Education
